AMO in Morocco: how to find your route and claim treatment costs

Last checked 24 October 2026

This is an orientation guide, not a benefits decision, guaranteed reimbursement or medical or legal advice. AMO varies by situation and managing body; confirm current documents, deadlines and tariffs before treatment and filing.

In short

There is no single AMO registration desk for everyone. Your route depends on your work, study, retirement or social situation. This guide explains where to start and how reimbursement differs from direct coverage.

Step by step

  1. Identify your situation first

    Before registering anywhere

Private-sector employees, public employees, pensioners, students, self-employed workers and people in solidarity routes do not necessarily use the same body. Official Moroccan information distinguishes CNSS and CNOPS groups. Ask your employer or the managing body before filling in a form.

  2. For solidarity routes, start with the official registries

    RNP and RSU

For people unable to pay contributions, access is linked to the solidarity route and eligibility. ANSS describes the sequence: register in RNP and obtain an IDCS, then register in RSU. Registration alone is not a guarantee of coverage; the competent authority applies the conditions.

  3. Separate direct coverage from reimbursement

    Before or after treatment

Direct coverage involves coordination and, where required, prior approval. With reimbursement, you pay and submit the required file. ACAPS distinguishes reimbursement requiring prior approval from reimbursement without it. Ask before an expensive examination, hospital stay or treatment.

  4. Build the file and do not confuse the invoice with the tariff

    After treatment

Keep the prescription, invoice, care form, laboratory or imaging results and any document requested by the managing body. Reimbursement is not necessarily a percentage of the full amount paid: it depends on the treatment, national reference tariff and scheme. The uncovered difference remains your co-payment.

  5. Submit and track it with the right body

CNSS, CNOPS or your managing body

Submit through the method used by your managing body and keep a receipt or tracking number. Do not assume one deadline applies to everyone: deadlines and documents vary by scheme and service. If the file is refused or incomplete, ask for the reason in writing.

Official AMO and reimbursement information

Start with ACAPS to understand the system, then use the instructions of your managing body: CNSS, CNOPS or the body matching your situation. For solidarity routes, ANSS explains the RNP and RSU starting point.

AMO is not one form for everyone

One person asks their employer, another uses CNOPS, and someone else starts with RNP and RSU. The same label covers different routes. This guide helps you find the right starting point.

Ask about direct coverage before paying

If treatment or hospital care may be expensive, ask the managing body whether prior approval is required and which documents it needs. A small question can save a long trip later.

Hdaya brings useful information and people closer

Nearby providers may help organise paperwork, but coverage and reimbursement decisions belong to the managing body. Use official information and keep a receipt or tracking number.

Questions people ask

Does everyone register for AMO in the same way?

No. The route depends on your status. Identify the managing body first.

Does RNP and RSU registration automatically mean I have AMO?

No. They are important stages in some social routes, but eligibility and coverage still depend on the applicable conditions and the authority’s decision.

Does AMO repay the whole invoice?

Usually not. The amount depends on the scheme, treatment and national reference tariff; the uncovered difference remains your responsibility unless another rule applies.

What is the difference between direct coverage and reimbursement?

With direct coverage, the managing body coordinates before or during treatment. With reimbursement, you pay first and submit a file.

Is there one deadline for every claim?

Do not assume so. Ask your managing body and keep the answer in writing.

What if my file is refused?

Ask for the reason or missing document, keep the file number and receipt, and start with a complaint to the managing body.
