Morocco visa: exempt countries, AEVM and e-visa

Last checked 24 October 2026

In short

Inviting someone from abroad? Start with their nationality: many countries enter Morocco without a visa. Some need an electronic authorisation (AEVM); everyone else can apply for the e-visa on acces-maroc.ma if they qualify, or for a regular visa at a consulate.

Step by step

  1. Check whether the nationality is exempt

    consulat.ma

The list of exempt nationalities is published on the consulates' website. You will find it below, or you can check with the tool on acces-maroc.ma.

  2. Exempt from a visa, but needs an AEVM?

    acces-maroc.ma

Citizens of Mali, Congo (Brazzaville) and Guinea (Conakry) are exempt from a visa, but need an electronic authorisation (AEVM) before travelling. It is not required for holders of a Moroccan residence card, for transit passengers who stay in the airport, or for spouses of Moroccan men or women (with proof of marriage).

  3. See whether the e-visa is possible

    acces-maroc.ma

A: citizens of Azerbaijan, Benin, Brunei, Cambodia, Guatemala, India, Jordan, Laos, Israel, Thailand and Vietnam. B: residents of the European Union, the United States, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, Japan, Norway, New Zealand, the UAE or Switzerland, with a residence card valid for at least 180 days. C: holders of a Schengen, US, Australian, British, Irish, Japanese, Canadian, Norwegian or New Zealand visa, multiple-entry and valid for at least 90 days.

  4. Apply for the e-visa

    acces-maroc.ma

You fill in the application, add the papers, pay and follow the file online. The answer comes within 24 hours (urgent) or 72 hours (standard), on Moroccan working days. The visa is valid for 180 days, for a single entry and a maximum stay of 30 days, for tourism or business. Gather all the papers before you start the application.

  5. Or a regular visa at the consulate

Moroccan embassy or consulate in your country of residence

The file: the form, two 4×3 photos, a passport valid for longer than the stay plus a copy, and a bank statement, an accommodation certificate or a request from a licensed travel agency. When the visa is issued: insurance, hotel or accommodation booking, and a return ticket.

The official route

acces-maroc.ma or the consulate

The e-visa and the AEVM are requested only on the Foreign Ministry's official portal. Everything else goes through the Moroccan embassy or consulate.

If you are inviting a relative

  • Send them the acces-maroc.ma link so they can check their own situation.
  • If they will stay with you, get the accommodation certificate ready early: it is among the papers the consulate accepts for a regular visa.
  • Ask them to confirm the visa before they pay for a non-refundable ticket.
  • If the visit is for a wedding, see mixed marriage: papers and steps.

How much does the visa cost?

The price of the e-visa and the AEVM, and the consulate fees, are not shown on the official pages we read, so we quote no figure. The price appears on the portal when you pay, and it is not refunded.
