Redoing a Moroccan salon is more than new fabric: there are the sedari, the base, the foam, the fabric and the sewing. Measure the room, look at a salon the upholsterer has already done, and ask for a detailed written quote before handing yours over.
The salon before the wedding
Many families redo their salon before a wedding, Eid or a big gathering: new fabric, new mattresses, edging that shines. It's a happy moment, but a salon that should last for years starts with its base, not the colour of the fabric.
Beldi, Fassi, Rbati or contemporary?
Every family has a salon that suits it: some love sedari all around the room and generous decoration, others prefer simple lines. Names like "Fassi" or "Rbati" help people talk, but they say nothing about quality, and no style is the only right one. What matters is that the shape you want is clear in a drawing and a photo.
From carpenter to upholsterer
The sedari and base are the carpenter's work; mattresses, fabric and sewing are the upholsterer's. See Carpenter in Morocco if the base is new, and Moroccan embroidery for a touch of tarz on the cushions. For work across the whole house, see zellige and Moroccan gypsum work.
On Hdaya you'll find upholsterers and cooperatives in your city with their work on show: send them photos and measurements of your salon, and start there.
