Working alone and want to be legal without setting up a company? The auto-entrepreneur status fits as long as your yearly turnover stays under 500,000 MAD (trade, industry, crafts) or 200,000 MAD (services). You register with the national auto-entrepreneur register, then pay 0.5% or 1% of what you take in, every month or every quarter.

In practice you gather the papers for the marriage contract and hand them to the adouls, who do the rest: they take the file to the family judge, draw up the contract, and the judge approves it. Your job is the papers, and they need to be exact.

Inviting someone from abroad? Start with their nationality: many countries enter Morocco without a visa. Some need an electronic authorisation (AEVM); everyone else can apply for the e-visa on acces-maroc.ma if they qualify, or for a regular visa at a consulate.

Want to open a company? Since March 2025, everything goes through one platform: directentreprise.ma, run by OMPIC (the trade-mark and company office). One form covers the name, the articles of association, taxes, the trade register, the Official Gazette and social security. You set the capital freely, and the file is usually submitted by a notary, a lawyer or an accountant.

Divorce in Morocco goes through the family section of the court of first instance, which always tries reconciliation before it decides. You can follow the procedure yourself, or hand the whole case to a lawyer, from the request to the ruling.

To go on Umrah from Morocco, the usual route is an Umrah visa through the Nusuk platform, most often with a licensed travel agency, because Morocco is not on Saudi Arabia's e-tourist visa list. First of all, get the meningitis vaccine at least 10 days before you arrive.

If you are Moroccan, even with another nationality, the Family Code applies to you. For a mixed marriage there are two routes: before adouls (in Morocco or at a consulate) with the judge's authorisation, or a civil marriage abroad, lodged with the consulate within 3 months.

We're sorry for your loss. After a death, you register it with the civil registry, then two adouls draw up the inheritance deed (iratha) that establishes who the heirs are. If there is titled property, the inheritance is recorded at the land registry.

You have 30 days from the day after a birth or death to register it at your commune's civil status office, and one year if you live abroad. After that the registration becomes late and needs an authorisation.
Health
If your child seems slow to talk, or has lost something they could already do, don't just wait. Start with a paediatrician or GP: they check development and hearing, then refer you to a speech therapist if needed. A delay doesn't always mean an illness.

Most back pain gets better within a few weeks, but some signs can't wait. Start with a GP or a health centre: they decide whether you need a physiotherapist or a specialist.

If stress or anxiety is affecting your sleep, focus or daily life, you don't have to face it alone. Start at a health centre or with a GP: they will listen and refer you to a psychologist or psychiatrist. If someone is in danger right now, go to the emergency room.

For stomach pain, bloating, indigestion or a change in your bowel habits, start with a GP or a pharmacist, who can point you to the next step. If the pain is severe or sudden, or a sign from the red list appears, go to the emergency room.

You can't pick braces from a photo. It starts with a check-up at the dentist or an orthodontist (braces specialist), who explains whether fixed braces or clear aligners suit your case and the follow-up you can manage.

Peeling or bubbling paint is rarely just about the paint: damp, a leak or a wall that wasn't prepared properly can be behind it. Take photos from a distance and let the painter find the cause before repainting.

Water dripping from the ceiling? First move people away and watch out for electricity, and don't go up on the roof. Take photos from inside, note when it drips, and call a plumber or roofer to find the source.

Mould on a wall is usually a sign of damp, and painting over it fixes nothing. Photograph the spot and let a painter or plasterer find where the water comes from. If a cough or breathlessness lingers, see a doctor.

Carved plaster changes the look of a salon and its ceiling: it is the art of drawing and carving, done by hand by the maâlem (master craftsman). Before you agree, tell decorative carved plaster apart from ordinary repair plaster, and look at the maâlem's work before you listen to promises.

Redoing a Moroccan salon is more than new fabric: there are the sedari, the base, the foam, the fabric and the sewing. Measure the room, look at a salon the upholsterer has already done, and ask for a detailed written quote before handing yours over.

Sedari (built-in salon seating), a door or a cupboard: before you agree with the carpenter, tell him clearly the shape, size, type of wood and finish. Send photos of the space with measurements, and ask for a drawing and a written price that separates the frame, the decoration and the fitting.

Personal coaching is support towards a clear goal: questions, a plan and follow-up. It isn't therapy, and it isn't a promise of success. Before you start, know what you want to move forward, and ask the coach about their method and limits.

Children's vaccination follows Morocco's National Immunization Programme, but the schedule should always be checked against the Ministry of Health's latest information. Bring the child's health booklet to the health centre and ask the professional about the next dose; do not rely on an old table found online.

Buying or selling property, taking out a mortgage or setting up a company? A notary drafts the deeds the law requires to be authentic, or that you want made official. They check identity and papers, explain what the deed means for you, keep the original and handle the registration steps the law requires.

An adoul (notary-witness for family and many civil deeds) receives and writes adoulaire deeds and keeps their records, under a judge's oversight. Marriage, inheritance, powers of attorney and some property deeds are typical examples, but every case is looked at on its own. Bring your papers and ask whether your case is one for them.

A summons, a dispute, a contract you don't understand before signing: that's when to see a lawyer. A lawyer advises you, represents and defends you, and follows procedures at court and with the public prosecutor. The best time to go is before a deadline gets close.

In Morocco, a cooperative is more than a name and a logo: it is a shared business. You need members who agree, a name approved by ODCO, bylaws and capital, and it ends with registration in the local cooperative register at the court.

The difference is in the contract, not the name. In a murabaha the bank buys a specific home or car and resells it to you at a known price that includes its profit; in a conventional loan the bank lends you money and you repay it with interest. Before you sign, compare the full cost and ask about ownership, late payment and early settlement.

Colour, aroma and bitterness can win you over, but none of them proves quality. Ask the producer where the oil comes from and where it was pressed, read the label, and store it away from light and heat. If you still doubt a large quantity, only a lab test settles it.

If your aim is cultural, social, sporting or charitable, with no profit shared out, an association suits you better. The difference shows in the activity, the money and who runs things.
